Pueblo Community College students notified about woman with rifle on campus
Pueblo Community College says a safety alert was sent out to students and staff during the lunch hour after a woman was seen with a rifle.
The alert reads as follows:
“Between 12:10 and 12:15 this afternoon, Tuesday, August 25, 2015, a woman described in her mid-50s was seen allegedly carrying a rifle down Maryland Place, when she crossed Orman Avenue and sat down at a picnic table in the Student Center Courtyard. The woman was last seen leaving campus at approximately 12:15 pm on a city bus.
This is considered a serious situation, please be on the lookout for an individual matching this description. If seen, please do not approach this person. Call 911 immediately.
The PCC Department of Public Safety, Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, and the Pueblo Police Department are continuing to investigate the incident.”
Pueblo Community College President Patty Erjavec told KRDO NewsChannel 13 that because the incident happened so fast, the college was not placed on lockdown.
Erjavec said she doesn’t know who the woman was, but that she does not believe there is a threat to the college. She said the college has asked Pueblo Police for extra patrols in the coming days.
