Highway 287 Closure

good evening and thanks for joing us, i’m dana clemens. and i’m greg miller. first up tonight, highway 287 is closed in both directions near la junta – all because of a dust storm. the closure is from lamar to springfield. this is a live look in la junta from our viaero wireless camera, where we can still see the dust in the background. the highway was closed at milepost 69 after multiple crashes highway was closed at milepost 69 after multiple crashes – drivers say they couldn’t see 100 feet in front of them. one person was taken to the hospital in that crash. troopers say they’re at the mercy of this storm and can’t tell us when it will re- open…and right now drivers and troopers are taking refuge inside of their vehicles until the conditions
