Police: Woman faces attempted murder charges in June fire

Colorado Springs Police said Thursday that a fire that happened at an east side home in June was set on purpose.

The fire was reported at 10:52 p.m. on June 6 at a home in the 5100 block of Airport Road. No one was hurt.

Police and fire investigators have been looking into the cause of the fire since that time.

On August 20, police announced the arrest of Claudia Barajas, 37. Barajas faces charges for domestic violence-related attempted first degree murder and first degree arson.

Police say Barajas, of Fountain, was arrested at around 11 a.m. Thursday in the 1800 block of Southgate Rd. in Colorado Springs.
