Positively Pueblo scout works to refurbish statue as Eagle Scout project

A boy scout is working hard this week to make it to the next level.

Carlos Arellano is working toward his goal of becoming an Eagle Scout.

Arellano is refurbishing the statue that stands outside the courthouse.

The statue was purchased in 1950 by the Boy Scouts as part of a nationwide celebration of the organizations 40th birthday.

“To help the community, I want to go and fix the statue up and so when people walk by they see the statue and say oh look it looks really nice,” he said.

Arellano has already stripped down the statue to its original color. Now he’s working to smooth it out. He also plans to clean up the fence and plaques around the statue.
