Man accused of photographing boys at YMCA posts bond
A man who is accused of taking pictures of underage boys at a Colorado Springs YMCA is out of jail.
Police arrested Robert Dolan, 72, Friday afternoon. He posted bond Tuesday morning.
Dolan faces charges of sexual exploitation of a child and invasion of privacy for sexual gratification.
Staff at the Garden Ranch YMCA called police after a man was seen walking into the boys locker room. Police said the suspect was photographing boys while they were changing clothes.
Detectives searched Dolan’s cellular telephone, computer equipment and electronic media located at his home, police said.
An arrest affidavit says police found more than 300 pictures of nude or partially nude boys on Dolan’s cell phone.
During the investigation detectives learned the suspect was at the YMCA five times in the week prior to his arrest, police said.
“The YMCA has very strong protocol and rules and regulations around photography in the YMCA, as well as just keeping our children safe while in our care,” said Carrie Bair-Norwood, vice president of marketing for the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region. “It is important to have protocol and to have us all looking out for each other, because we want to keep our kids safe, and we want to keep our families and adults safe as well.”
Springs Police also believe there could be more victims. Anyone with information is asked to call 719-444-7000.
