CSPD officers rescue bear cub stuck in bottle
Colorado Springs police officers rescued a bear cub in distress.
The cub managed to get her head stuck in a plastic protein powder bottle.
Officers William Powers. Sandor Csikesz, Cem Duzel and Raymond Wetzel all helped in bear operation.
The cub was found just after 5 a.m. Tuesday near 14th and Kiowa streets near downtown.
The officers tried to remove the bottle from her head but couldn’t. They did manage to get the cub into the back of a patrol car to take her to nearby fire station 3, where a Colorado Parks and Wildlife ranger sedated the bear.
Firefighters were then able to safely remove the bottle with their rescue tools.
Police say the bear cub was tagged and released by Parks and Wildlife in hopes that she will be reunited with mama bear.
