Power pole damaged in Teller County crash

The Four Mile Fire Department says the driver of an SUV that crashed into a power pole Monday afternoon may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

The crash happened on County Road 11 near the County Road 111 intersection at around 2:30 p.m. on August 17, 2015.

The fire department says the SUV went 200 yards off the road. It says the driver said he fell asleep and wasn’t injured.

The road was down to one lane for several hours Monday afternoon, and it closed entirely at around 5:45 p.m. so that IREA could remove the broken pole and replace it.

Both lanes of the road are now open.
