Results for Pueblo Superfund site delayed

Results on soil from an Environmental Protection Agency Superfund site in Pueblo are delayed.

EPA officials hoped testing on soil samples would be finished before a community meeting Tuesday night.

“There’s so much data to go through and different ways to analyze it to make sure that the different ways we sample are compared properly,” EPA representative Sabrina Forrest said.

The EPA began testing samples in May. The agency found the former smelter, which closed more than 100 years ago, left behind high levels of lead and arsenic.

Test results should be ready at the next community meeting in September, Forrest said.
