State of the art MRI comes to Colorado Springs

New state of the art medical equipment has arrived in Colorado Springs and will soon be available to patients.

Doctors say the latest magnetic resonance imaging machine brings rare technology right to their fingertips.

“I don’t think the community realizes how good of equipment this is,” Dr. Werner Ziegler said.

Ziegler says the new machine will not only offer quicker scans, but do it with 60 percent higher resolution.

It will allow doctors to see what they may have missed before.

“You’ll be able to see stuff that’s the size of a pin tip. It’s amazing,” Ziegler said.

The $2.5 million MRI also shows brain activity.

Doctors say it will result in earlier diagnoses and hopefully prolong lives.

“This should be second to none. You can do anything that exists in the world with this piece of equipment,” Ziegler said.

The new MRI will be operational by Sept. 1.
