Special Meeting Tonight on Monument Methadone Clinc

Monument;s Board of Trustees are holding a special meeting tonight on theestablishment of a Methadone facility in historic downtown Monument. The town’s Board, which is typically scheduled for Monday will review applications and move to appoint two members of the community to the town’s Board of Adjustment.

“You don’t have the required number of board members to hear the appeal next week,” said attorney Bill Louis during a regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Trustees this past Monday evening. Louis is the attorney retained by the non-profit entity No Methadone in Monument to represent them during the Board of Adjustment hearing scheduled for 6:30 Monday, Aug. 10 at “Big Red” the Lewis Palmer School District 38 administrative building in Monument.

Scrambling to fill the variance board and bring it into compliance with state statutes, the trustees determined to hold a special meeting at 6:30p.m. Friday, Aug. 7 for the purposes of vetting applicants and making appointments to two board vacancies that have existed since sometime in 2013.

Town staff reports at least ten residents have submitted applications to the Board of Adjustment since Monday and will be considered for appointment tonight.
