Illegal dumping continues to be a problem in Colorado Springs
Illegal dumping continues to be a problem in Colorado Springs, and there is a big pile of trash on the corner of Peterson and Galley Roads to prove it.
A viewer told KRDO Newschannel 13 he is sick and tired of driving by the pile, and finds it very disrespectful.
“The city and county are trying to do their best to keep up with it, but this is our house and we have to keep it clean,” Matt Biereichel said.
County crews said they think people dump their trash here because they don’t want to pay the fee to have it properly dumped.
But Biereichel said that is no excuse.
“People should do the bare minimum and throw away their trash,” he said. “Or they could take it to Goodwill! I would pay extra tax dollars to keep our city clean.”
County crews said this corner is one of the worst in the Springs, and now they’re considering installing a fence to keep people out.
Not only is this dumping an eyesore, but it’s also illegal.
County crews will also have to use taxpayer dollars to clean it up.
