Police say counterfeit cash a growing problem in Pueblo

Pueblo Police say three counterfeiting-related arrests have been made just this week.

The most recent arrests happened on July 30 at around 10 a.m. at the Coronado Motel in the 2100 block of Lake Ave.

Police say Ryan Baker, 34, and Ross Billings, 32, were arrested on outstanding warrants and that additional charges related to counterfeiting are pending.

Police say detectives found counterfeit money, chemicals and other equipment used to make counterfeit money in the hotel room.

The first arrest happened earlier this week. Police say Derie Fernandez had $500 in counterfeit bills on her.

Pueblo Police say the city has seen a recent increase in counterfeit 100, 50 and 20 dollar bills. It says that so far this year; it has received 80 reports of people receiving counterfeit money.
