Larimer County deputies arrest man who set self on fire

A Larimer County man is being investigated for first-degree arson and resisting arrest after deputies say he lit himself on fire and attempted to run away from the scene.

The Fort Collins Coloradoan reports that deputies responded to a call of suspicious activity in unincorporated Larimer County Sunday. When they arrived on scene they found a man who was shouting and acting erratically.

Officials say the man began dousing himself and things around him with gasoline. He held a cigarette lighter out and threatened to set himself on fire. At about 3:30 p.m. the man ignited the gasoline. Poudre Fire Authority firefighters deployed fire retardant foam.

The man then attempted to run away but was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
