Suspect in Longmont fetal-abduction case due in court
The woman accused of attacking Michelle Wilkins and cutting the Longmont woman’s unborn child from her womb is scheduled to be arraigned on attempted-murder charges in Boulder District Court.
Prosecutors say Dynel Lane lured 26-year-old Michelle Wilkins to her home on March 18 under the pretense of selling maternity clothes. Police say she attacked Wilkins, cutting her unborn baby from her womb.
Wilkins survived, but her baby, named Aurora, did not. The Boulder County Coroner’s Office later determined the baby died from “fetal demise.”
Because prosecutors say there is no evidence the baby lived outside the womb, Lane was charged with unlawful termination of a pregnancy. She is charged with attempted murder for the attack on Wilkins and will appear in court on Thursday.
