Air Force Academy cadet hopes Taylor Swift will be his date

An Air Force Academy cadet hopes his video gaining traction online will convinced singer/songwriter Taylor Swift to be his date to the Ring Dance.

Brett Hagen released the video YouTube and it’s already been viewed more than 50,000 times. In the video, he incorporates references to Swift’s popular songs while dancing and rapping in front of some of the Air Force Academy’s landmarks.

“Of all the celebrities I could ask, I think she would be the one to answer. Also, all the people here at the Air Force Academy love Taylor Swift, love her music and think she is a great role model so what better person it would be than Taylor Swift,” said Hagen.

Hagen hopes to bring Swift to the Ring Dance. The cadet second class will attend the dance in May and that’s where he will receive his class ring. He said he is asking Swift now to give her enough time to plan for the event.

When planning the video, Hagen said he knew he had to go all out to get Swift’s attention. He said the video’s production was a group effort at the Academy.

“If I would have done this by myself, I would have never got Taylor Swift to recognize the video,” said Hagen.

He hopes Taylor Swift won’t shake him off, but he hasn’t heard back yet.

“I still do need a Ring Dance date so if the whole Taylor Swift thing doesn’t happen, I am open for suggestions,” said Hagen.

Hagen enlisted in the Air Force at 18 and worked for three years at Peterson Air Force base as an aerospace physiological technician. After that, he attended Air Force Academy’s preparatory school. He plans to graduate in 2017 with law degree and minor in Spanish.
