‘He didn’t do it’ – Suspect’s family in deadly shooting claims he’s innocent
Two of the three men accused of shooting a Colorado Springs teenager to death made their first court appearance Monday.
Raymond Rogan Jr. and Riccardo Kirven are charged with first-degree murder and were advised of their charges today. Raymond Rogan Sr. is charged with tampering with evidence and accessory to murder. Rogan Sr. already bonded out, so he did not have an advisement yet.
The three were arrested Saturday after 14-year-old Desmond Smith was shot to death in Memorial Park.
Smith’s family asked for privacy while they grieve, but Rogan Jr.’s family said they wanted to let people know he didn’t do it.
His uncle, Jerome Smith, said Rogan Jr. is a good boy.
“You got him all wrong, he wouldn’t hurt a fly,” Smith said.
He claimed Rogan Jr. wasn’t involved.
“All this stuff saying he’s a murderer … he’s not. That’s all I got to say,” Smith said.
Family and friends back at the memorial for Smith said they’ve heard multiple stories about what happened in the killing, but the affidavit hasn’t been released yet so none of them have been confirmed.
Kirven and Rogan Jr. will be back in court on Friday.
