Colorado counties to receive federal disaster relief

obama is clearing the way for colorado to get federal help to repair flood damage. the state submitted a request for twenty million dollars in damages. el paso and pueblo counties will get some of that money to help clean up. krdo newschannel 13’s zach pagano is finding out how the disaster relief will affect homeowners. it’s become a familiar sight in rockrimmon backyards and throughout colorado springs. city crews are still repairing storm damage from heavy rain and flooding. i mean, it’s my backyard. look at this. i just appreciate everything that they’re doing. luanne crane says this drainage ditch has come a long way over the past two months. well even over here, the house wasn’t in danger but you can tell that the land was just starting to settle as all the rain came further and further. now 20 million dollars in federal disaster relief is on its way. under eligible projects, the federal government will cover 75x? 75 percent of costs of repair. federal funds will reimburse many local storm projects. this is going to help us in the long term. some of these projects will take months to repair, but we’ve gotten right to work stand up: neighbors in this rockrimmon neighborhood say they’re thankful for extra money to help finish projects like this one. they say they can already see the progress in their own backyard. they jumped right on it. they have had a full crew out here every day. we’ve been so impressed. there’s still more work to be done… but the city is getting some help to foot the bill. in colorado springs, zach pagano, krdo newschannel 13. el paso county claimed the majority of storm damage in colorado and county officials say, it could receive nearly half of the 20- million dollars in relief funds.
