Gang members attack fellow inmate in Pueblo County Jail

A jailhouse assault, believed to be gang related, in the Pueblo County Detention Center has ten inmates in even bigger trouble.

Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office said the inmates conspired to attack another inmate. They said nine of the 10 inmates are in the same gang.

Deputies responded to the center on July 6, and found found an injured inmate. The inmate refused to cooperate when questioned, and insisted he fell in the restroom.

Investigators reviewed surveillance video and found evidence of an assault that happened in one of the restrooms.

The attacked inmate was taken to Parkview Medical Center where it was determined the assault caused serious bodily injury.

Charges for the 10 inmates include assault and rioting in a detention center.
