Falcon: Town cleans up after powerful storm
Heavy rain, flooding and hail hit much of Southern Colorado Thursday night. Falcon- was one of the areas hardest hit. Today residents are picking up the pieces.
“Last night was pretty bad. We’re cleaning out the gutters to keep them from overflowing again,” said Jane Otto.
This is clean up, after a downpour — the Otto family’s backyard flooded.
“The gutters were plugged with ice and there’s no place for the water to go and after that it’s just like Niagra Falls,” said Vern Otto.
But the worst of it- was their basement.
“The basement completely flooded. The water just broke through and got all this wet just and carpet got ruined,” said Kimberly Ebner.
Nearby, another basement was flooded.
“Here we are drying up the carpet and this is just the aftermath of what happened,” said Carrie Rickman.
Three-week-old carpet was ruined — and that’s not all.
“Lots of hail, it tore up my entire front yard, everything. I mean the hail was incredible. Water was gushing down sides,” said Rickman.
A concern for many homeowners now, is also worrisome.
“Mold. That’s what we’re worried about and it’s not going to be cheap,” said Otto.
It’ll be a costly cleanup, for a powerful storm.
“We’ve never seen anything like this at all,” said Otto.
