Silent auction for Megan Pacheco’s family
Family and friends are holding a silent auction for the family of the Colorado Springs teen who died after overdosing on the drug “Molly.”
Megan Pacheco, 17, passed away Thursday afternoon at the Children’s Hospital in Aurora. She was airlifted there a week ago after taking the drug.
Family friend, Tammy McQuitty, hopes to ease the financial burden of medical costs with a silent auction.
“Her family is suffering so much as it is, but now she’s in a better place and it gives her family peace and closure,” said McQuitty.
McQuitty is painting a photo with the color red, Megan’s favorite color. She’s also assembling a bouquet of bright-colored flowers.
The items will be up for auction next week. Details will be posted on her Facebook page at “Creations by Cricket.” Half of the proceeds will be donated to the Pacheco family.
“To have had a relationship and know Megan, the person she was, it’s devastating. It truly is. She had a lot to offer, and hopefully with a tragedy like this something good can come out of it for other children. And we can help her family,” said McQuitty.
McQuitty hopes whoever purchases the items will donate them back to the Pacheco family- as gifts to remember how much Megan was loved.
Megan was a graduate of Sand Creek High School and had plans to attend the University of Northern Colorado this fall.
