Community ready to help transitioning soldiers
Organizations in Colorado Springs are ready to help soldiers who will lose their jobs following the recently announced army cuts.
Fort Carson will lose 365 jobs.
“We are really ready to help those veterans in our community,” said Traci Marques, director of customer service and community outreach at the Pikes Peak Workforce Center. “Veterans are our priority of service. We have a lot of collaborations that we work with, community partners, to help place these veterans in employment and career opportunities.”
The Pikes Peak Workforce Center offers many services, including one-on-one assistance, resume review, classes and financial coaching.
Marques said there are more than 10,000 open positions in the Colorado Springs metro area in a wide range of fields.
