Awaiting Pentagon announcement

we’re should find out tomorrow… how many soliders and civilian military workers will be cut from fort carson. a formal announment from the pentagon is scheduled for 11 tomorrow morning. a pentagon offical confirmed with c-n-n yesterday that 40-thousand soldiers will be cut. 17-thousand civilian jobs will be eliminated. and more cuts could be coming when sequestration happens in october if congress doesn’t come to some agreement on a budget. news of the cuts has a lot of military families nervous. krdo newschannel 13’s greg miller is live at the mountain post tonight. greg, many are nervous about the impact this might have. in just thirteen hours we hope to know the severity of these cuts. from military families uncertain about the future, to the city, a lot of people waiting and bracing for the news. when katie roberts husband deployed to kuwait last year, he left some uniforms in their closet. she just hopes, he can wear them when he returns. sot: hopefully re- inlisting soon, we’ll see if that will go through or not. she admits she’s scared cuts will leave him without a job. sot: we wouldn’t have anywhere to go. cuts which have more than just military families worried. it’s very possible they will spread the cuts out across the army. the effect according to the business alliance – devastating. early indications they’ve received, a brigade could be cut – about 35-hundred troops an impact of 235 million dollars locally lost. it’s gonna hit restaraunts, car dealers, retail stores, a lot of local small businesses are going to be hit by that. the alliance has worked with veterans affiars to help the affected soldiers transition to civilian life. “w actually have quite a few jobs open in our community right now so if those folks can help fill those jobs that would lessen the impact to our community. whether that works? we’ll find out tomorrow. we plan on streaming the pentagon’s announcement live tomorrow at 11 on krdo- dot-com and have the follow up throughout the day. reporting live at fc, gm, nc 13. a wildfire smoke adviosry is in
