City crews have new plan to repair potholes
The Colorado Springs Streets Division is taking a new approach to tackling pothole repairs.
Jack Ladley, the operations manager in the Streets Division, said they’ve come up with the new plan because crews are about a month behind on repairs.
He said instead of focusing on individual calls for service, crews will make repairs based on location.
For example, crews used to to repair potholes within seven days of someone calling to report them. That means if someone called about a pothole on their residential street, it would be fixed first, even if a main road had more of a problem.
But now, the main roads will take priority.
“This allows our supervisors to focus on those main routes and get them fixed quickly,” Ladley said.
Arterial roads will be repaired after the main routes, and residential streets will be finished last.
