Veterans are recognized in Colorado Springs

They’ve been called the “Greatest Generation”.

On Monday about 60 veterans and spouses were recognized at MorningStar Senior Living Center in Colorado Springs.

On Monday they had a chance to hear patriotic songs, hear letters from some of their contemporary soldiers and enjoy a special lunch.

The veterans also heard from Representative Doug Lamborn who thanked them for their service.

Whether they went overseas to fight the enemy or stayed home to help the effort, they said they were proud to do their part.

“I enjoyed it, and I did a little part in my service. Plus, I volunteered when I had time,” said Marilyn Kirkpatrick.

Kirkpatrick was in high school during the war. She was a telephone operator, replacing regular operators who went to work in the factories.
