VA issues continue in Aurora

It’s been the subject of massive cost overruns and long construction delays, and it’s one of the reasons that the Veterans Administration (VA) is in so much trouble with Congress.

The new nine building VA complex being built in Aurora was originally slated to cost under $900 million, but the new price tag is more than $1.5 billion.

Rep. Doug Lamborn serves on the Veterans Committee and said that more oversight is needed.

“The Veterans Administration needs to be held accountable. They really haven’t fully explained how we got into this mess in the first place. We know some of what happened but there are still details that need to be worked out,” he said.

As for the Colorado Springs VA clinic, Lamborn said that demand for it is stronger than anticipated, and the staff there is meeting the demand.
