UPDATE: Missing girl found safe, mom taken into custody

A girl who police said was kidnapped by her mother has been found safe.

Colorado Springs police say Kiri McMillion, 28, does not have custody of the girl, identified by police as Sidney Carlisle, 5.

Police say the kidnapping happened in the 700 block of E. Rio Grande St. just after 5 p.m. on June 30, 2015.

Police say McMillion went to the home and asked her daughter to leave with her. They say that when the girl refused, McMillion took her by force.

McMillion’s car was found in the northeastern Colorado town of Yuma.

Police say she may have been driving a silver 1999 Chevrolet pick-up truck with Colorado license plate number 952-SUQ.

Police said early Thursday morning (7/2/15) the 5-year-old was found safe in Yuma County and McMillion was arrested.
