One dead in Northeast Colorado Springs shooting

Police are investigating a fatal shooting in Northeast Colorado Springs.

It happened around 4:30 Thursday morning at the Preserve at Hidden Creek Apartments on Vista Ridge Point.

Police spokesman Sgt. Joel Kern said a man died and a woman was taken to the hospital. Kern said there is no threat to the community involving the shooting.

Neighbors said they are concerned about the shooting.

“It was kind of scary to wake up to that and see all that caution tape around,” said Laria Martinez-DeLeon, who has lived at the apartment complex for seven months. “It just makes me a little nervous.”

Two children were in the apartment during the shoot but were not injured.

“It was kind of a shock to see that happen there in that apartment, and it’s kind of scary to know that kids live there as well,”Martinez-DeLeon said.

Police have not released names of the people involved in the incident.
