Highway 50 reopens following La Junta crash

The Otero County Sheriff’s Office said Highway 50 was closed through La Junta Thursday because of a crash.

It reopened around 1:45 p.m.

A picture tweeted by the sheriff’s office showed a badly damaged motorcycle and a damaged truck blocking one side of the highway, with emergency vehicles blocking the other side.

No information about injuries was immediately available.

The sheriff’s office said that in addition to its deputies, La Junta Police, the Colorado Department of Transportation, the La Junta Fire Department and the Colorado State Patrol responded to the crash.
