Area near Loveland airport searched in shootings probe

Authorities are searching an area near the Fort Collins-Loveland airport as part of the investigation into a series of apparently random roadside shootings in northern Colorado.

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office says an evidence recovery team went to the area Thursday morning to follow up on leads from previous tips.

Last week, about two dozen FBI and members of local law enforcement also searched a park in Loveland as part of the investigation.

Investigators say two nearby shootings weeks apart are linked by evidence but they haven’t determined if a fatal June 3 shooting in Loveland is also related.
