Some closures at Lake Pueblo lifted ahead of the holiday weekend

Colorado Parks and Wildlife says the south boat ramp at the Pueblo Reservoir is among the areas closed due to high water that will be open in time for the July 4th weekend.

Below is a list of areas impacted by the high water and their expected holiday weekend status:

The South Boat Ramp will reopen July 2 at 5 a.m.
The Kettle Creek Campground sustained no damage and is open.
The North Boat Ramp remains open. South Fishing shoreline access will not be open for the holiday, as the access road remains partially underwater. Sailboard Access and parking lot remains closed. Water damaged the parking lot, closing the area until further notice and evaluation. North Picnic Access retains a bit of water, but may be open for the holiday weekend.

Water levels at the lake remain high, and the current changes are made barring any unexpected water events.

“We will keep opening any areas that remain closed as we can,” said Lake Pueblo State Park Manager Monique Mullis.

Boaters are reminded to continue to use extra caution due to additional debris in the lake.

The closure of the Arkansas River below the dam at Lake Pueblo, in effect since June 22 , remains in place. This closure applies to a 1-mile section of the Arkansas River, from Lake Pueblo State Park to Pueblo Blvd. All boaters and tubers, with the exception of whitewater canoes and kayaks, are prohibited.

Closures along the Arkansas in Pueblo County east of the reservoir and in the city of Pueblo also remain in place.
