Safety changes coming on Highway 94

Changes are coming for a stretch of Highway 94 that’s had two deadly crashes this year, and numerous other accidents.

Schriever Air Force Base and El Paso County asked the Colorado Department of Transportation to study a 16-mile section between Colorado Springs and Ellicott.

CDOT said the highway itself isn’t dangerous, and the main issues are a lack of turn lanes and dangerous driving habits, like speeding.

Upcoming changes include widening the intersection at Marksheffel Road and adding warning signs and lighting at other intersections.
