Colorado Springs Pridefest reacts to SCOTUS ruling on gay marriage

Colorado Springs Pridefest reacted Friday to the Supreme Court’s ruling making same-sex marriage legal nationwide.

Colorado Springs Pridefest, Inc. took over the annual event after the Colorado Springs Pride Center closed in January after 37 years.

“America keeps its promise of the pursuit of happiness, liberty, and justice for all. Today ‘s decision is a victory for everyone who cares about protecting and supporting families,” said Nic Grzecka, President of Colorado Springs Pride fest, Inc. ” Today ‘s ruling makes perfectly clear that there is no legal or moral justification for standing in the path of marriage equality and it certainly adds the importance of the Official Marriage Services at this year’s Colorado Springs Pride fest.”

The 25th annual Colorado Springs Pridefest is scheduled for July 11 and 12 at America the Beautiful Park.

Other services that were previously provided by the Pride Center are now being offered by an organization called the Colorado Springs Queer Collective.
