Families spend Father’s Day at Lake Pueblo State Park

It’s one of the busiest weekends of the year at Pueblo Reservoir, but that didn’t stop families from taking their boats on the water.

Access is still limited for boaters due to high water. The north ramp is the only location for people to launch boats, which caused some delays over the weekend.

“It’s always worth it, but you just want to get out here. It’s hot and you just want to be in the water,” said Tori Nordberg, who is taking her brother and dad for a boat ride on Father’s Day.

The Nordbergs have been looking forward to spending time on the boat.

“We work a lot and I work a lot, and it’s just nice to get the family together and spend some together,” said Robert Nordberg, Tori’s father.

Some boaters said it was the perfect day to spend on the water.

“I haven’t been out on a boat in several years, and it’s my daughter’s first time,” said Julie Capps, who was boating with friends and family. “It’s all about spending time with dad and we’re making memories.”

Despite some delays, boaters said they were thankful to be together with family.

“I learn a lot from my dad,” said Tori Nordberg. “I can take care of myself, I have the boat and I do everything on my own. I have him to thank for it.”
