Prosecutors wrap up emotional case in theater shooting trial
The prosecution in the Colorado theater shooting trial is wrapping up its case against James Holmes.
Prosecutors will rest their case Friday after testimony from people who were shot in the 2012 massacre, as well as a former classmate of Holmes. The trial started eight weeks ago.
The prosecution team is working to undermine Holmes’ claim that he was so mentally ill that he didn’t know right from wrong when he killed 12 people and wounded 70. They have relied on emotional testimony from dozens of survivors, along with graphic photos and Holmes’ own videotaped statements to a state-appointed psychiatrist.
Holmes’ defense is scheduled to begin next week.
