Vandalism in Southern Colorado Neighborhood
Homeowners in one Southern Colorado neighborhood woke up to slashed tires, car damage and open doors.
Police say it happened early Thursday morning in the 2100 block of North Corona Street.
“They damaged the paint on my vehicle, looks like they tried to pry open my sunroof as well,” said Nick Bontrager.
Bontrager woke up to his driver’s side window shattered and two of his tires slashed.
“I came out, was ready to go to work and there was bricks around my windows and tires were slashed. Looks like they got bricks from the side of my house,” said Bontrager.
There were reports of at least six cars vandalized. One car was broken into and a backpack was stolen. Police say that car door was unlocked.
Vandalism in the neighborhood has happened in the past few years.
“I had damage when I parked a couple blocks from the synagogue and had my windows smashed in,” said Anthony Abdo.
Police are continuing to search for clues, but the only trace left behind is a foot print in Bontrager’s backyard.
“I don’t feel scared to live here. I’m just getting tired of people trying to break into cars,” said Bontrager.
