Flood damage forces road and trail closures in El Paso County

El Paso County says several roads and trails have been damaged by this spring’s heavy rains.

Roads Closed

Falcon Highway between Peyton Highway and J.D. Johnson Road
Jones Road between Ellicott Highway and Log Road McKay Road (Cheyenne Mtn area) Sanborn Road between Baggett Rd and Ellicott Highway

Roads Damaged but Open

Log Road (Black Squirrel Creek area)
Chief Road and Pinto Pony Road (SE of Falcon) Rampart Terrace (Cascade) Laura Road Dix Circle Widefield Drive (Barricades in place on paving project are open only to resident traffic)
Paseo Corto Calle Corto Terminal Drive

Open but Wet

Siferd Blvd and Date Street continue to have fluctuating water levels at the low water crossing. Do not cross during high water.

Current Park and Trails Closers

Rainbow Falls Recreation Area now is open
Rock Island Trail is open, but watch for damage near Judge Orr Road Fountain Creek Regional Trail:
Hanson Trailhead and the bridge over the creek are closed.
– Fishers Canyon area next to Maxwell Street is closed
Stratmoor Valley Trailhead and playground area closed
Willow Springs Ponds, fishing is open, but the trail is closed The trail south of Carson Street Bridge and west of Ceresa Park is closed.
