Fountain Fire Department says teen set self on fire
The Fountain Fire Department says a teenager was airlifted to a burn unit in Denver after setting himself on fire.
Fountain Fire Chief Darin Anstine says the 17-year-old showed up at the First Choice Emergency Room on Fountain Mesa Road at around 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
It was determined that his burns were severe and that he needed to be flown to Denver for treatment. The teen was in critical condition as of Sunday night.
Anstine says the investigation into why the teen set himself on fire is on hold. He said the family is in Denver dealing with the emergency, and he will likely contact them toward the end of the week.
Anstine tells KRDO NewsChannel 13 that the teen is Autistic.
