Homeowner says he knows the source of flood water

colorado springs neighborhood. the homeowners in moccasin pass court in rockrimmon continue to deal with water that seeps up from the ground and into their basements. one man says the answer may be in some old city maps. he talked to krdo newschannel 13’s greg miller … who is live in that neighborhood tonight. heather, this constant flowing water has the people who live here pumping water 24/7. they’re desperate for answers … and one man says he may know what’s causing it. stephanie basgal is going on two weeks – dealing with this in her basement. there’s so much water, and there are areas where the water is standing and pooling. it’s forced her to tear the insulation away from her basement walls… and she continuously runs her sump pump. she doesn’t know the exact cause of all this water… she just wants it to stop. i know we’re stuck. i’ve thought of going to a hotel, but we have two dogs. what are we going to do with them? her neighbor has a theory. where did all that water go? ernie velez thinks when the city built douglas creek, some of the water got pumped to a pit, which funneled into an old river that used to run under the neighborhood. that water was all directed to that little 20 or 30 yard pit. it’s an idea he brought to the city of colorado springs. we’ve had a large amount of rain in the area, which ahs gone down into the soil. tim mitros has inspected the area nearly every day for the past two weeks – he blames the waldo canyon burn scar and fifteen inches of rain. the water table is high in this area. that’s why developers puts sump pumps in their basements. he doesn’t disms velez’s thoughts – but is leaning toward record rain as the main cause. something that doesn’t sit well with those who are waterlogged. i have concerns about mold, what are we inhaling, i have concerns about a sinkhole, i don’t receive the answers i need. the city says they will keep an eye on river levels here and near douglas creek – hoping for a stretch of dry weather to give these people a break. mitros says until there’s a stretch of dry weather the folks who live here just need to keep pumping the water out. live in cs, gm, nc, 13. and… there’s a chance more water is on its
