Suspected Drunk Driver Hits Police Car, Other Vehicles, Leaves Child Behind

Colorado Springs Police say 28-year-old William Miles was arrested Saturday (06/06/15) evening, after he hit several cars, including a police vehicle, while driving drunk, and then tried to run away, leaving a small child behind.

It happened on the 2500 block of Verde Drive (near E. Fountain Blvd. and S. Cirlce Dr.) around 9:30 pm.

An officer was investigating a separate incident, when police say Miles, who was driving a red truck, side-swiped three parked cars, and then rear-ended the police car, pushing into two additional parked cars.

Miles then tried to run from the scene, leaving a small child in a car seat.

He was captured moments later and arrested.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the case.

The child was not hurt, and no one was injured.
