Damaging tornadoes touch down in Colorado
Tornadoes touched down northeast of Colorado Springs and north of Denver Thursday (6/4/15).
Five tornadoes touched down near Simla, about 40 miles northeast of Colorado Springs.
Elbert County Road 50 was closed between 133 and 141 because of downed power lines.
The Elbert County Office of Emergency Management said five homes were mildly damaged by the tornadoes and one home was severely damaged. No injuries were reported.
In northern Colorado, the Larimer County Office of Emergency Management reported three homes were destroyed by a tornado near Berthoud. More than two dozen other homes were damaged.
Early Friday morning, a sinkhole about 15 feet deep opened up on a street south of Denver, swallowing a police cruiser. The sergeant inside managed to crawl out and says he’s glad it happened to him and no one else.
