Circus dream delivered to little girl with cancer

It’s not every day the Hope family can sit back and watch the show. For the past year, life has been a balancing act.

Lolli Hope, 4, was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma last August.

“There was an amputation of her left foot to remove the large mass of the cancer, so she’s been in chemotherapy treatment every since,” said LaRie Hope, Lolli’s mother.

Because Lolli loves to dance and perform, Make-A-Wish Colorado treated her to a circus surprise. Lolli joined the circus for a day at the Broadmoor World Arena, taking instruction from clowns, aerial performers and stilt walkers from the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey presents Circus XTREME.

“All of the people tried to make me happy,” Lolli Hope told KRDO NewsChannel 13.

Lolli also got to meet the elephants in the show and feed them.

The experience was humbling for the Hope family.

“Between what our community has done for us and what our worldly, earthly family pulled together to do for us, it’s magical,” LaRie Hope said.

Lolli finished her last scheduled chemotherapy session this week. She will undergo testing later this month to see if she is cancer free. If so, she will continue to have scans for the next five years to make sure the cancer doesn’t return.
