Police say illegal marijuana shop set up at Pueblo home
Pueblo police say they busted an illegal marijuana shop operating out of a home in the 2300 block of Cedar Street.
Officers executed a search warrant at the home at around 11 a.m. Thursday after receiving tips.
“The foot traffic, according to some of the neighbors that I spoke with, was constant. All hours of the night. People were fearful about coming out of their houses,” said Capt. Charlie Taylor.
Taylor said a “substantial amount of marijuana” was found in the home. He added that some of the marijuana was purchased at a medical marijuana dispensary and was being resold.
“The labels were still on the bottles and had the state seal. And we actually called and checked and it came from a marijuana dispensary,” Taylor said.
More than $10,000 was also found during the investigation. Taylor said the couple who lives there was using a kitchen drawer as a cash register for the underground business. He added that about a dozen marijuana plants were growing in the basement.
“It was very organized,” Taylor said. “It looked like a retail store.”
Police say the couple who was selling the marijuana out of the house was not licensed to do so.
Eleven municipal citations were written as a result of this investigation, including no retail marijuana license, no medical marijuana license, and illegal sale and transfer of marijuana.
The Drug Enforcement Administration is also looking into the case and seized the marijuana plants found in the house.
No one has been arrested.
