Six drive-by shootings in Pueblo, all appear gang related
Police are investigating six drive-by shootings that happened over the past month that appear to be gang-related.
Most of them happened on the city’s east side, including the most recent one on June 2. Capt. Eric Bravo said the victim, whom he identified as Emilio Hall, was driving in the 1200 block of Glendale Ave. around 4:30 p.m. when he was shot by a man driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee with chrome rims.
The single shot grazed Hall’s leg. Police said Hall is being tight-lipped with officers.
Sgt. Eric Gonzales said that lack of cooperation has made the investigations difficult.
“These individuals are in gangs and don’t want to work well with police officers so it’s really hard. Officers and detectives are having to do harder work to try to find things out,” Gonzales said.
The rash of drive-by shootings began on May 11, in the the area of Troy Ave. and Oakshire Lane. The victim told police they were heading west on Oakshire when a vehicle pulled up next to them and started shooting into the car.
Officers arrested Brandon Lee, Torres, 18, for his reported involvement in the shooting. He faces a charge of complicity to commit first-degree assault.
Torres is the only person who has been arrested in connection with the shootings.
Gonzales said none of the shootings have resulted in a serious injury. On May 20, an unidentified 18-year-old male went to a hospital with a nonlife-threatening gunshot wound to his shoulder. Gonzales said that shooting happened in the 3900 block of Ivywood Lane.
Gonzales said officers have not increased patrols where the shootings occurred because they don’t have enough officers.
