Pueblo County breaks its own flu case record

The flu season is over, but the illness left its mark in Pueblo County.

The Pueblo City-County Health Department reports that there have been 143 cases of the flu, the most since it began keeping track in 2007.

The department said one of the reasons why the number is so high is because the virus changed during the flu season, which made the flu shot not as effective.

The department said it still does encourage people to get flu shots because the chances of someone getting the virus with the shot would be low.

Last season, there were 75 reported cases in the county.
