I-25 procession for Colorado cadet killed in chase crash

Members of law enforcement from around the state are saying goodbye to a Colorado State Patrol cadet hit and killed by a driver allegedly fleeing a traffic stop.

They are making a procession in honor of 21-year-old Taylor Thyfault on Interstate 25 from Longmont, where Thyfault was killed Saturday, to the church in Lafayette for his memorial service Friday morning.

On one overpass on the route, a huge American flag was hung from the ladders of two fire trucks.

Police say Thyfault was at a separate accident investigation with Trooper Clinton Rushing when Rushing learned of the chase and deployed stop sticks to try to catch 27-year-old Christopher Gebers. Gebers swerved to miss the sticks and hit Rushing and then Thyfault.

Gebers says his accelerator was stuck.
