Pueblo airport will put flights to Denver on hold

Pueblo’s only commercial flight will soon be grounded for at least a month.

Starting June 3, flights to Denver from Pueblo Memorial Airport are on hold. The reason for the cease in flights is Great Lakes Airlines is negotiating a contract with the Department of Transportation in order to provide flight services for the airport.

The airport said Skywest pulled its services because it was getting too expensive for the airline.

Joyce Glasgow, who is a manager for Rocky Mountain Flower Fuel Operations, said this delay will hurt business.

“The commuter planes that fly in here every morning and every afternoon, we fuel them. So we are going to have that loss of revenue for this interim period,” she said.

Glasgow also said without commercial flights, the passengers who use Pueblo Memorial Airport could go to Colorado Springs Airport because of the delay.

Airport Advisory Member Ed Brown said Pueblo could lose federal money that could be used to improve the airport.

The airport has 12 flights a week that fly out to Denver.
