Highway 24 Business partially reopens

The Colorado Department of Transportation says eastbound U.S. 24 Business between U.S. 24 and Serpentine Dr. reopened Thursday. It was closed after rocks fell onto the eastbound lane on Memorial Day, which have since been removed.

The westbound lanes remain closed because of cracks that have formed in the westbound lanes of the road.

Serpentine Drive has reopened between U.S. 24 Business and Highway 24. Some wall cracking was discovered in the area last week, but CDOT says the cracks are not dangerous.
CDOT engineers will be monitoring the cracking on westbound U.S. 24 Business for the next week to determine if there is further earth movement, resulting in further road damage. It will remain closed for travel for at least the next seven days.
