Arapahoe Basin skiing extended into summer after May snow

Colorado skiers don’t have to pack away their gear yet since the Arapahoe Basin announced it will extend the ski season.

Summit Daily News reports that after nearly 50 inches of snow in May there will be limited lift service during a bonus weekend of June 12 to June 14. Officials say they could add more bonus weekends if the weather stays cool and cloudy.

After the original closing date of June 7, ski lifts and skier services will be closed Monday through Thursday. The ski area will reopen on Friday with limited skier services.

During the bonus weekend, the Black Mountain Express and Lenawee Mountain lifts will run from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Terrain availability will depend on conditions.
