Mural honoring veterans receiving makeover

A worn-down mural that is meant to honor Pueblo’s military veterans will be getting a makeover.

A group of veterans raised $3,000 so that an artist can repaint the mural on City Center Drive.

Anthony Armijo is the original artist. He started painting Friday. Water damage caused his original piece to fade away.

He said it is a privilege to paint a mural that honors Pueblo’s heroes.

“I didn’t realize I touched so many souls and so many lives. That made me very happy and content that I could please other people. That’s why I’m here again,” Armijo said.

He hopes the art piece can be done by September.
