UPDATE: School Resource Officer who was accused of stalking a student is fired
Prosecutors say they will not pursue charges against a Fountain Police Officer who was arrested in late April.
The 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office says there isn’t enough evidence to warrant criminal charges against Sgt. Dorell Green. He was facing charges for stalking and promotion of obscenity to a minor.
The Fountain Police Department initially placed Green on administrative leave. The department says he was fired following an internal affairs investigation that found he violated the department’s code of conduct.
Green was a supervising School Resource Officer assigned to Fountain-Fort Carson School District 8.
Fountain Police said that on Wednesday, April 29, the department received a criminal allegation involving Green. It said that the allegation involved communications with a student.
Police said the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation to ensure transparency.
Green was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
According to an arrest affidavit, Green and a female student exchanged hundreds of messages over Facebook. The document says that many of the messages were inappropriate, including one that said “If I could go back to being 17 I’d sweep you off your feet” and another that told her she could climb into bed with him if she wanted.
The court papers say that on April 28, Green sent her a message asking her if she was a virgin. She said she feared for her safety and told a teacher about the messages.
